About Mr. Johnson

In 2005, Mr. was awarded the H. Vaughn Phelps Excellence in Teaching Award by the Westside Community Schools.

 

 

Doran Johnson has been the Choral Director at Westside High School for the past eleven years. Prior to coming to Nebraska, he taught sixth through twelfth grade vocal music in Grundy Center, Iowa.

At Westside High School, Mr. Johnsons' responsibilities include directing the Warrior Choir, Freshman Choir, ATSC, Warrior Express and teaching Voice Class.

Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education degree from the University of Northern Iowa and recently completed a Master of Music degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Mr. Johnson currently serves as a Show Choir Repertoire and Standards Chair for the North Central Division of the American Choral Directors Association and is the District Music Contest Coordinator for District Two of the Nebraska School Activities Association.
